Lagarfljótsormurinn also known as Lagarfljót worm or Lagarfljot Lake Monster is a cryptid said to inhabit the waters of lake Lagarfljót in Iceland.
A truth commission of 13 people has determined that a video of the giant serpent-like creature shot back in 2012 proves it does exists. The video shot by Hjörtur E. Kjerúlf now determined to be authentic is now entitled to a prize offered for proof of the monster valued at ISK 500,000 (EUR 3,300, USD 4,300).
“Photo from Hjörtur’s video”
The footage that is said to now prove the Lagarfljot Lake Monster is real was shot from Hjörtur’s kitchen window in Fljótsdalur and went viral rather quickly back in 2012. Another photo was submitted for review but was deemed by the commission to not actually show the legendary cryptid.
Here is the actual Lagarfljót worm video from 2012 so you can examine for yourself and decide if it is actually proof that the creature is real. Cryptids such as Lagarfljótsormurinn are often accompanied by some type of reward for proof and its quite interesting that this one will actually be paid out.
