Chupacabra has recently become one of the more talked about and tracked cryptids with sightings being reported in multiple areas’s and even bodies being reported.
Ben Radford a New Mexico researcher and author of “Tracking the Chupacabra: The Vampire Beast in Fact, Fiction, and Folklore” takes a closer look at the legendary creature and its sightings. He has an interesting take on the rise of Chupacabra sightings and on the actual existence of the creature that many skeptics are sure to agree with.
Chupacabra is thought by many to be a creature that has existed for many years but in fact it only goes back to 1995 according to Radford. At least that is the first time there was a reported sightings of it by a woman in Puerto Rico. An interview was conducted with the woman by Radford in which he says prior to the sightings report she admitted to seeing the movie “Species” in which he believes may have influenced the report in some way.
Recent Chupacabra sightings and reports from places like Texas are considered to be the “new version” of the creature. There have not only been reports of sightings but also bodies which are believed to be that of the mythical cryptid. So far Radford says when DNA testing has been completed these bodies have all proved to be known animals like raccoon’s, coyotes, or dogs.
Although he makes some very valid points and there has yet to be any solid evidence of the existence of the creature many continue the search for the Chupacabra and fully believe. Believers point to the fact that the Texas Chupacabra along with others sighted in U.S. seems to be a different creature all together then the legendary cryptid of legend in Puerto Rico and common mis-identifications continue.
