Champ the lake monster that is said to inhabit the waters of Lake Champlain continues to be one of the most interesting of the legendary cryptids.
Back in 2003 there was an echolocation recorded of what many believed to have been that of Champ. Well a group known as Champ Search was back on the waters of the lake in search of the elusive creature and they once again recorded an echolocation the first since 2003. Kathy Elizabeth and Dennis Jay Hall used an arry of equipment including sonar, underwater cameras, and hydrophones in their research.

Many believe that the creatures believed to be Champ use this technique to possibly find food or even to communicate with each other. Visibility in the lake is very poor in some areas it may be needed to find food and other things as sight alone may not be enough. To date these Echolocations are yet to be explained and can not be matched to any known animal although some believe they are fairly similar to those from a Beluga Whale but no dolphin or whale species are known to inhabit the lake.
The Champ Search crew says they also had a sightings of two animals on the New York side of the lake using binoculars and underwater camera’s that they believe may have been the creature. Video of the expedition should be released pretty soon and we will follow up when it is. Here is the 2014 Champ Echolocation for you to check out and decide for your self what you think this elusive cryptid may be.
